Parbhani, earlier also known as “ Prabhavatinagar ”, is one of the Eight districts in the Marathawada region of Maharashtra State This entire Marathwada region, a district geographical region, was a part of the erstwhile Nizam State; later a part of Hyderabad State; after reorganization of states in 1956 it became a part of the then Bombay state; and from 1960 onwards it is part of the present Maharashtra state. n 1970s, a field research established that Sai Baba was born in Pathri village. Sri Sai Smarak Samiti (Sai Memorial committee) was then formed in Pathri. A committee purchased land for temple on site of Sai Baba’s house and construction of the temple was started in 1994. In 1999 the temple was inaugurated to the public.
This Kshetra is situated in sub hills of Sahyadri Mountains full of natural beauty in area of Marathvada in Parabhani District 3 km away from Jintur. There are two hills named Nemgiri & Chandragiri are famous in the world for their ancient artistic & miraculous Jain Cave Temples & Chaityalayas.
In ancient times this area was famous as Jainpur, this was developed in the time of Emperor, Amogh Varsha of Rashtrakut Family. Later in the middle period of Indian History, this was destroyed by invaders, and its name was changed to Jintur, the current name. At that time 300 Jain families & 14 Jain Temples were here. Today two temples out of them only are present.
Pardeshwar Temple is built of marble by Sri Swami Sachchidandji Saraswati. The huge temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva with 80 foot of height. The uniqueness of the temple is that main shrine Shivlinga is made of 250 kg of Parad (Mercury) and one of the largest Shivlinga of India. This Shivlinga made of Parad is called as Tejoling and has equal religious importance of Twelve Jyotirlinga.
The one of the religious place to visit in Parbhani district is the famous temple of lord Mudgaleshwar this is one of the historical temple in the Maharashtra. This temple is situated on the bank of the Godavari River. In early time this temple was known as the “Devbhumi”. There are three main temples in this premises.
Out of three temples one temple is on the shore, it is of Lord Narsimha. Two temples which are in the middle of river Godavari, one temple is of Lord Narsimha (Mudgaleshwar) and other one is of Lord Ganesha (Mudgal Ganesh). Peoples make a holy bath in the Godavari River.
Every Mahashivratri lots of devotees come there for Mudgaleshwar Darshan. The arti which is celebrated in the temple is mesmerizing and make a spiritual atmosphere in and around of the surrounding. Peoples don’t miss to visit this temple when come to Parbhani.
