Hadsar Trek

The Hadsar fort is near the Village Hadsar. Hadsar village is located 13 km North-West of Junnar. From the village, there are two paths to reach the fort top. The easiest way is from the southern side, which passes through the main gate. the other way is from the northern side of the Fort. There is a rock path of 20feet high to climb. There are rock-cut holds and thrust to rely upon, but is a very difficult yet thrilling experience. The help of experts with climbing apparatus and ropes should be taken while climbing. A night halt can be made in the Mahadev village.

Hadsar is a hill fort in the state of Maharashtra. It is situated at an elevation of 3200 feet from the ground in the district of Pune. Within the fort, there are massive tunnel-like entrances built in the Mughal style. There are neat, rock-cut steps which lead up to these twin gates.

There is a Shiva temple atop the fort and a pond facing it. The citadel also has vast underground chambers which were used probably as storerooms. The Shiva temple has stone carvings of Ganesh and Hanuman on its corners.

Chavand Trek

Chavand fort is approximately 20 km away from the city of Junnar in Pune district, and is a popular destination for trekkers and adventure enthusiasts as well . There is a varied flora and fauna around the foothills of the Chavand fort trek. There are 12 various species of birds to observe. The base village of the Chavand Fort is Chavandwadi village.

There is a huge stone door called the Mahadarwaja which is still structurally intact. There is a Chamunda Devi Mandir on the fort along with a few remnants of a cannon as well. There are seven water tanks carved out of a single stone. The top of the fort offers splendid views of the neighbouring regions along with views of forts like Shivneri, Jivdhan and Hadsar. One can also see the seven tanks, the Kukadi river and the Manikdoh dam.


Chavand (or Prasannagad) is a hill fort in the state of Maharashtra. Located at an elevation of about 3500 feet from the ground in the district of Pune, this fortress is a part of the 'famous five'. The other forts which are included under this category are Hadsar, Shivneri, Jivdhan and Naneghat.

The fort is remarkable for the the seven water tanks laid out in a single line, carved out from a single rock. There are some cannons on the way upto the fort. There is a Chamunda temple atop the citadel with a water tank situated beside it at the highest point on the fort. The famous Kukdeshwar temple and the river Kukdi are visible from the southern end of the fort.

Purandar Trek

The fort has two distinct levels. The lower part of Purandar is called the machi. North of the machi is a flat area where the cantonment and hospital was housed. There are many temples dedicated to Purandareshwar (the fort's patron god, from which it also takes its name) and Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa here. There is a statue of Murarbaji Deshpande, the commander (killedar) of the fort who gave up his life in order to protect the fort from the Mughals. From the lower level of the machi, a staircase leads to the upper level called Ballekilla. The first structure of the Ballekilla that comes into view is the Dilli Darwaja (Delhi Gate). This area also houses an ancient Kedareshwar (Shiva) temple. The upper level called is also surrounded by steep drop on three sides.

Purandar is a fort in the Pune district of Maharashtra. Purandar and Vajragad are twin forts. Purandar is the larger of the two and is situated at a height of 4472 feet from the sea level. The top of the fort presents a very scenic view of its twin fort Vajragad.

Rajgad Trek

Rajgad trek is a moderate level trek that begins at the Gunjavane Village in Pune District and ends at the Rajgad Fort. It is a favourite trekking trail among intermediate level trekkers who are looking for a great location to satisfy their urge for the thrill. The climb is through a hill called Murum Dev Dongar in the Sahyadri Mountain Range. The fort is located over 1400 metres above sea level amidst scenic surroundings of the Western Ghats of India. This provides for a beautiful and thrilling terrain for the adventure activity.

The most preferred time for a Rajgad Trek is during the monsoon and the winter seasons. The weather remains cool and pleasant all through the day and allows adventure seekers to complete the hike. Some areas of the hill have railings to aid the hike. However, trekkers need to be aware of the tricky, slippery and dangerous parts of the terrain to be careful during their climb, especially during the monsoon season. Some may even enrol themselves in trekking groups and climb the hill under the guidance of a trainer.

Rajgad, not unlike its name, is one of the royal and palatial treks in Pune to a fort once inhabited by Shivaji Maharaj himself. The captivating beauty and history of the fort and the lush Sahyadri range surrounding it are absolutely worth every single aching muscle.

Tikona Trek

Tikona Fort, a dominant hill fortress is a popular one-day trek spot of the Pawana Maval region of the Konkan. The real Marathi name of the fort is Vitandgad, but it gets its more famous name from the triangular shape it is built-in. Situated at a height of 3500 feet, the fort has high fortifications, large doorways, seven water tanks with clean water and a spectacular view from its topmost bastion.

The trek from the village of Tikona Peth to the top of the hill is an ideal getaway for the adventurers at heart. After crossing several caves, temples and water tanks, the route brings you to the edge of the extended parapet from where you can take in the fantastic beauty of the surroundings.
